*More Books!

I promise I'll stop buying books soon, but to be fair these were to good of a deal to pass up. The bottom book is Stories of Sherlock Holmes, and the little red books on top are Volume 1 & 2 of the History of France. I'm not sure when those were published but someone wrote their name on the inside cover and the year 1922.
Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, I need to be on the lookout for Sherlock Holmes audiotapes. They are surprisingly hard to find.

*New haircut

Remember this haircut? Although I liked it, it was a bit too thick and heavy to curl nicely. So the other day I decided it was time to fix that. My wonderful hairdresser Jessica suggested we put in layers this time because then it will be lighter and it will curl better, then we thinned it out a bit. Afterwards she curled it with just a blow dryer and a round brush and the curls were amazing, so I'm excited to see what will happen if I try to pin curl it.
P.S. Have you noticed the silly face I make in both my haircut pictures? Weird.

*The Purse

Forgive me for the bad quality of the pictures, but it was the best I could do at the time :) I'm still not sure how to put the timer on my camera so I can be in the picture and not have to hold the camera....perhaps I should get around to reading the manual. Anyhow, in the middle picture you can see that it has a little coin purse attached, and that was really what made me buy it. I also like how roomy it is inside. All of my "new" purses from Aldo end up falling apart within a few months, but this looks pretty sturdy.

*Simpsons-Sears

The other day I was wandering around a vintage shop that is about 2 minutes from my school, and I found a great brown purse which I will post pictures of later. The label said Simpsons-Sears, and this is what wikipedia told me:
Sears Canada began its operations as Simpsons-Sears Limited, a catalogue and mid-market suburban retailer, in 1952. The company was formed as a joint-venture between the Robert Simpson Company (Simpson's), an existing Canadian department store retailer, and Sears, Roebuck and Co. of the United States. The purpose of the joint-venture was to take over the existing Simpson's catalogue operations, and to build new stores in markets that were not already served by existing Simpson's stores, leveraging Sears-Roebuck's strong buying power and organization.

In 1971, the company opened its new head office building in downtown Toronto.

In 1973-1974, Simpsons-Sears opened its first stores in metropolitan areas already served by Simpson's (although in suburban areas well away from the downtown Simpson's stores), the first such being in Mississauga, Ontario. So, to avoid confusing customers, these new stores were opened under the Sears banner. All existing Simpsons-Sears stores were rebranded to the Sears banner as well. However the name of the entity remained Simpsons-Sears.
Another fun fact is that my Nanna worked at Sears.

*99.1

Lately I've been listening to CHRI 99.1 on the radio. It's a Christian, family radio station so kids can listen to it too :) I started listening to it on my drives home from school or work, when I was too tired to listen to The Black Eyed Peas or Lady Gaga. I like their movie reviews, daily encouragement, focus on family messages, and their Proverbs 31 Message at 4:15pm.

*Photos of an ordinary life

The great thing about blogs is that you get to peer into someone else's life. Their life could be either extraordinary or quite ordinary. Mine is an ordinary one but I quite like it the way it is. lately my days have been filled with homework, organizing my closet, and trying to sew, or cross stitch, which is much harder then I once thought.
